Ulster Charles Rider Park boat ramp

One of our favorite places to eat sandwiches from the Quick Stop on RT 32. Clean park with boats, and trains to observe.

Nice spot. Locals tell me that it's especially good for windsurfing with a Southern wind. There are 2 channels close by the 2 shores. The main one right next to the closer shore with significant current and need to watch out for large ships and barges traffic. Channel on the other side is for small boats. In the middle there is a sandbar that is just over a knee deep when low. Great for learning beach start with windsurfing 😀. Lots of parking with pits to make BBQ and picnic benches. Come and visit nature at its best.

This is a beautiful place. Concrete boat launch with floating dock. Plenty of picnic benches and bbq pits. The view is awesome. I wish there were brick and mortar restrooms, but I expected this to be a boat ramp, not a state park so it's a minor tidbit.

It costs $8 to use the ramp. But when the wind is out of the west and the other people using the ramp are efficient, then the fee is a bargain. Even if you don't use the boat ramp the park is free and nice. There are barbeque grills, shady picnic tables, and a great view.

We stopped here along our journey. There some extremely interesting bricks that have grown into the tree roots along the water. A great walking area and nice picture spot. There were a lot of people fishing, some were cranky.
