Shaw's Boat Yard

Awesome place! Came up the river from Mt Hope Bay to visit nearby friends, was a bit concerned about the channel when considering going there in a 35' sailboat with 5.5' draft , but a knowledgeable person from Shaw's called me to discuss the last 3 mi channel up Taunton River. The depth was about 10 -15 feet at dead low tide, so no problem if you stay in the channel (but gets shallow real quick if you leave it!). Shaw's was very friendly, rented a mooring in about 10' water, strong current but no problem. They were very helpful and not expensive. A very low-key marina but interesting place to visit.

Very beautiful, peaceful plane to go with a friend to have a chat. Be by yourself, rating a book or even a cute little date. Love it!!

I recently purchased a sailboat that was stored at Shaw's. As I started to arrange the ferry voyage to the new home port, they had a change in management (still in the family) which created concern about a smooth launching and exit from the boatyard. Any fears I had were quickly put to rest by the new team. They handled my situation with professionalism even though they were in the middle of a major reorganization of the business side of the yard and understanding current state of the business during the start of the boating season. I live far enough away that it is inconceivable I will ever be able to use their services again. They were aware of the situation and still went out of their way to accommodate a number of crisis that popped up as we got ready to sail away from the boatyard. It is very rare to find this level of service from any business. I even received a call from one of the new management team asking about the trip to the new port a few weeks after we left the boatyard. I tried to convince them to open a facility in my area; unfortunately they are very busy with the current location.

A great DIY boatyard. Tom the owner and staff are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help. Always a pleasure storing my Lagoon 410 catamaran there. I highly recommend this boatyard for all your boating needs.

Excellent boat yard, we spent 3 months here outfitting our 47' cat. Tom, the owner, is really helpful and knowledge full. A really down to earth no nonsense place that let you work on your own boat and å lot of good advice if you ask.
