Sea Tow Great South Bay

Gladly I have only had to use SeaTow two times and they came and pulled my boat off a sand bar. The Captain was very professional and did an awesome job!!

A couple of weeks ago as we were heading South on the ICW, my raw water pump died. We were in St Catherines Sound GA and were planning to spend the night at anchor, but when the pump died we had to anchor close to where we intended. Called Sea Tow as it was approaching 5:00pm. We were immediately but in touch with the local St Catherines area captain. He made sure that we were safely at anchor and that the weather was not likely to change significantly. He arranged for a tow captain to meet us the next morning to tow us to a repair facility that he estimated to be about 50 miles from where we were. The tow boat arrived at 7:00AM which was a little before daylight. and we got set up for the tow. The weather was cold but otherwise OK, we were expecting a few inches of snow in Georgia the following day, so it was a rush to get us to the repair facility before they shut down for the snow storm. (Georgia where they last had snow about 20 years ago). The first captain brought us part of the way, and handed us off to the Brunswick area Sea Tow. This boat was much better suited for the towing of a heavy boat and was enclosed. I felt really bad for the initial captain and crew as the boat was not enclosed (Temps in the high 30s) and the fastest he could tow was around 6Kts. The second boat towed us at 9Kts. When we got to within a half mile of the facility he changed to a hip tow to maneuver us into the slip we had been assigned. The down side to having the faster tow was that we arrived at the facility during lunch time and so there were no dock hands to help get us into the slip. Capt. Danny was very skilled and managed to slide us into a slip while another boat shared the double slip.

For the few $$$ of membership , it is well worth it. You may not need any assistance “ That is what I hope for “. But it provides timely and professional assistance when you do. Maybe used it 3x’s in 15 years. It was the best $$$ spent. Thank You Sea Tow that comes out of the Anchorage in Lindenhurst NY
