Outboard Haven

They do great work for a very fair price... when they get to it. I called June 20 to have my boat looked at. He said call back in a couple weeks. What does that mean? Shouldn't my name go on a list? I did call back two weeks later and he said bring it in next week. I did. That was two weeks ago. He said he would look at it next week (that was last week). Then he said he would look at it this week... Total time from call until fix; six weeks. I don't mind shops being busy. I don't mind if they say "we have so many more boats than we can take care of right now, I can't give you any time horizon" or "looking like four to eight weeks." That is okay because it allows me to search for someone who can get it sooner. I have missed half the summer waiting for next week, next week!! The sad truth is every boat repair facility seems to operate this way. I think I am spoiled with car mechanics who will tell you a more tight window of 'toward the end of next week,' or even 'three weeks' but actually do the repair on the third week. Used to go to Riverside in Cheswick and the guy said three weeks and turned out to be three months AND he only half fixed the boat (still didn't run) and charged me for it. Then it was Milvale Marina and they dropped my motor cover damaging it and then took months to send it in for repairs. Also moved trailer with expensive new boat cover hanging and ran over straps pulling two off. Then it was Dockside Marina. That was the worst. Guy takes months, grossly under estimates the cost (says 1200 then it's 3800 with no call to ask you if that new estimate is okay). He is truly a sociopath. So many issues there! Let me be clear. Brian and Dan do phenomenal work and the price is fair. I totally trust them. And they are SO busy because they are one of the very few, if not the only repair facility in the Pittsburgh area that is honest and fair with their pricing. My solution so that I don't miss half of a summer for the third time in four years is to buy a second boat! A 14' aluminum 1957 Lone Star Malibu with a brand new fifty horse Tohatsu. Problem solved!!!

We brought our boat from the ramp to dock with no issues and then it wouldn't start. Outboard Haven came to the rescue, was able to diagnose it instantly and found a work around to get it running before 4th of July weekend without having to wait for parts. Battery switch went bad and will order for future repair but they hard wired to battery so no need right now. Thanks for the awesome customer service and expertise!!

These guys are true experts. My 4.5hp Mercury was about to become the anchor for my sailboat but the revived it and its running great, thank you.

Our 9.8 sat at Dockside Marina for about 6-7 months claiming it could not be fixed because of its age difficulty with getting parts and the part it need was in China We almost scrapped our motor until my Family in Florida suggested These guys at Outboard Haven Let me just tell you in just 48 hours we were fixed down to video showing it how it’s was running better than ever . The marina itself is not much to look at. It's slightly above average in appearance. However, savvy boaters know the only thing that matters when choosing a marina is how quickly they will repair your boat and get you back in the water again. Outboard Haven is simply the absolute best in this category! I was docked there for 10 years and I was never once dissatisfied with the speed of the repairs. Not one single time! I once had the misfortune of breaking down in at the point. I called the Marina and Brian drove down in his car the next day to make the necessary repairs. If you choose another marina, you're taking your chances. This is the best choice on the Allegheny!
