Liberty Marine

I'm grateful for Clyde's willingness to still serve the old two stroke engine and help us to troubleshoot. Thank you!

I took my boat to them and it sat there for 2 months. Every time I called them they said they would take a look at it. I eventually got tired of waiting and called them and said I was gonna pick it up. They said, "Oh we didn't know you wanted us to work on it." I paid a couple hundred dollars to get it out of their shop. I picked up my boat to have muddy footprints all over the deck. I will never take my boat back to Liberty Marine!

I took my blood at to Liberty Marine and was told that they were about 3 weeks away from being able to work on it,I gave them the 3 weeks and called them back several times. They finally called me lacking one day of being 7 weeks.I was told that it had 83 psi compression on one cylinder ,200 psi in another and 90 psi on one. when I took my boar to them you could eat off the floor, if you look at these pictures you can see the condition it was in when I picked it up after paying $344.50 to get it back with not being fixed.I was told that they were not sure what was wrong unless they went further into it. I think that I was ripped off. If it had been fixed would have been well worth what I was charged but I will never take my equipment back there again.

I bought a 81 Boston Whaler with a 87 Johnson 90hp in 2004 and used it in salt water in New England until the fall of 2016 with regular service and a ruild in 2006.. Moved to Charleston in 2018 and finally got the boat down here in May 2020. Despite my proper (I think) storage work, the engine would pop but not stay running. By accident, just driving around, I stopped at Liberty Marine and they said they worked on the "old" stuff. Dropped it off late July and happy to say all it was needed was a carb rebuild and choke repair which is not too surprising after sitting four years. You get what you pay for and Clyde, Dillard and Becky at Liberty is well worth it. Professional, patient and outstanding results. This is a 33 old engine and even if it was considered a "bulletproof workhorse" back in the day, I am thrilled at how it is running now! Thanks Liberty Marine!

We moved from Charleston in 1999 to the upstate of SC. We used Liberty Marine / Dillard's Marine for years before leaving and still drive three hours each way to use Clyde and the Liberty Marine team when needed. Customer service and quality of work has always been worth the trip to Charleston. Please give Dillard, Clyde and the Liberty Marine team a shot, you won't be disappointed !!
