Ordered part online with 3 day shipping never got to me in TX. Finally talked to the rude man answered phone he said nothing he could do they will not refund me my money still have not got part .be careful ordering from. Signed out of luck there's ups,fed x,and u still blaming and I still don't have part but you have my money

POSTSCRIPT: The owner's reply is deliberately misleading - Read my review carefully: There was NOTHING wrong with my outboard's starter as they claimed. It was NOT worn and WAS turning at the required speed. My motor was examined and tuned perfectly in one day by another local outboard mechanic for $125. No parts, old or new, were needed, nor was $600 to repair it. Caveat emptor, fellow boaters. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I own a small vintage boat with a 1957 Evinrude 35hp Big Twin outboard that had been sitting for a couple of years. I took it out of mothballs and wanted to get it tuned up and running, but was having trouble getting it started. There aren't many shops that work on old outboards, so after a couple of calls, I found these guys, who claim that old motors are their specialty. I drove an hour to take them my boat, and they said they'd get back to me in a couple of days. The place is an old cinderblock building, with stuff piled everywhere - Dirty, disorganized, and totally run-down. I should have run for it then... A week went by before they finally called to say that my starter was bad, and that they couldn't even determine if the motor would run until they replaced it, which would cost "around 5-600$. This is an expensive horse you're riding", the owner told me. Their cost for a starter - $239.00. I had a spare starter which they refused to use. I found an NOS one online for $150, but they wouldn't use that either. Finally I said never mind, and they began to call me and bug me about coming to get my boat. I commute 3 hours a day during the week, which I explained to them when I dropped it off, and said I'd be back on the next weekend to get my boat. I got 2 calls in 2 days telling me it had to go. Finally I got down there and picked it up, and they charged me $89 for labor just to (supposedly) determine that the starter was bad. I also got a flat tire from pulling into their junk-strewn yard. So next I took it to a trusted member of the Antique Outboard Club, which I only found existed after all this. The guy they recommended spent a day on it, charged me $125 to get it running perfectly, and said that there was NOTHING wrong with the starter AT ALL! Once it was cleaned and tuned, it was FINE. "An expensive horse", eh, boys? Nonsense. And when the screw holding the case was removed, dirt fell out, indicating that Heritage probably hadn't even OPENED the motor to make the misdiagnosis! So, I'm only out $89, but if I had trusted these cranky old shysters, I could have spent well over $600 for who-knows-what! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE with your vintage or antique boat! Go to the Antique Outboard Motor Club and find a reputable mechanic!

Great guys. I brought my boat in at the beginning of the summer after my lower unit was ripped in half by a log. I was able to find a gimble ring and bell housing online for cheap and these guys were fine with using the parts I brought in after they inspected them. I got the boat back in a week at a reasonable price and it was fine all summer. Best boat mechanics in the area.

Yes this is not a Big Box Dealer, but for guys like myself that's why I use this business. The staff is always extra helpful and knows how to find all the oddball stuff for my older OMC. They will always spend the time looking up parts and making sure you feel like their only customer.

Good Guys! I've bought parts from them in a pinch many times over the last 5yrs. I was a Marine Mechanic a little over 10yrs in Florida at a big name dealer. Some of the best shops are the small guys! Being around as long as they have says something..... 4 stars instead of 5 because of their limited inventory for my needs. They're Good Old Boys; not a Big Name dealer that's only out to sell you something... Note Regarding Other Reviews: As far as cost and turn around; Old Boats are a nightmare in a shop. Parts are expensive and hard to get if they're not obsolete..... Many shops won't touch them! Heritage doesn't seem intimidated by old motors.
