Gwinn Island Resort and Marina

Cabins need to be torn down and whole area needs to be bulldozed. I came here when I was a kid back in.the early 1970s and had many great times. It was the place to go for a nice weekend or spend with the family for the weekend. It appears nothing has been done to upkeep the cabins and many are falling down or there is major damage to the roofs. A few people lived in a few cabins but the road is impassable due to gullies and possible damage to the underneath of my car. The lake is dirty and smelled bad. It was very heartbreaking to see this and the boat dock andmarina are in very poor shape. I'm not one for giving a place one star out of five but this place is beyond horrible, uninhabitable, spooky and scary looking. A relative told me after my visit two of his friends spent the night in one of the cabins about 20 years ago, came to their homes and committed suicide. I'm thinking this place is haunted and I did not feel safe being there and bad energy. Something happened here long ago, maybe 25 years ago as it has been about 30 since I last visited. The restaurant on the hill and swimming pool with the lake water in the marina are long gone.

I was disappointed in this one. Broken pier and no where to turn around. I would think twice bringing an RV here. Very steep road!

The entrace and exit hill is very steep. There are very uneven roads (paved and gravel) with potholes and drop-offs. However, the boat ramp was the only usable ramp in the area for a larger boat... it was a challenge getting the boat on and off the trailer, but we were able to do so without flooding the boat.

This is such a uniquely beautiful spot in Central Kentucky and could be so much more with a little TLC. This place needs a makeover and a revival!
