Access to the Kentucky River

Nice single-lane concrete boat ramp with parking lot and perfectly placed courtesy dock. Easy to self launch. Located in a unique little town along a pretty stretch of the Kentucky River. Friendly people also. Could maybe use more trailer parking in the spring but for my visit parking lot was more than adequate.

Found this ramp while lost driving around KY. Decent amount of parking but ramp is fairly narrow and might be tricky early in the morning

This is a free public access boat ramp on the East bank of the Kentucky River at Gratz. No restroom, picnic or other facilities are provided. There is adequate parking for vehicles and trailers. The ramp is one lane wide, moderately steep and descends in the downstream direction more or less parallel to the river from the access loop road. The ramp is concrete and the surface is ribbed. There is a bar at the mouth of a nearby creek that may not be visible, depending on the river level. The ramp may be difficult to use during the off season due to mud and driftwood deposited during high water.

Oct 2016. This ramp is a relatively new Ky Dept of Fish & Wildlife ramp. Good parking, good approach loop, moderate slope, excellent ribbed ramp surface. Not slick if dry. A nice courtesy dock. Probably the best on the Ky River. A creek mouth causes a rock bar downstream so be aware when higher water hides this bar.
