The place was packed. People were nice, and traffic progressed smoothly. It started to rain, but we waited it out before launching our jonboat. Dont tell anyone else, but this section of the James is the best fishing on the whole river.

We enjoyed kayaking from Gala Boat Ramp. The boat launch is shallow so only canoes and kayaks or shallow boats are appropriate to be launched. There's several take out locations to choose from. We left a truck downstream.
