Fayette Station Public River Access - Lower New River Take-out

We parked down here to go to the little beach and swim. It was the perfect spot to swim in the river, swim across and jump off rocks, and view the big bridge and little bridge. We probably swam around for 2-3 hours and had a blast. There is also a boat ramp and public bathrooms.

*Beware of snakes in the summertime! Beautiful river access where you can watch the kayakers and rafters go down the river. It is a nice place to swim and allow the dogs to get into the water. I will also add that in August out dog was swimming here and got bit by a venomous snake by the rocks and water while playing fetch. Kanawha Vet ER I’m South Charleston is the closest vet with antivenom and open on weekends - and it is 1.5 hours away. This review is about the public river access which is beautiful and nice, especially while visiting New River Gorge bridge, but please, be careful!

Plenty of parking and there are restrooms. It’s a short walk back to the bridge you cross over the river to get some nice shots from there or down to the water.

great view of the rapids. one of my pics is of the parking lot since I haven't seen anyone else post one. seems like you can get around 6-8 cars there. wasn't busy when we went only us and another car.
