Big Thunder Marine at Ozark Yacht Club

We used to hit up Lakeside Cafe for an amazing breakfast and coffee and pick up our boat rental after...unfortunately our breakfast place closed, so it's not convenient for us to rent here in the summer/spring mornings. We'll look closer to our new breakfast spot.

Ozark Yacht Club was AMAZING! They made our wedding so perfect and even more then we could have imagined. I highly recommend anyone having their wedding there. They were always responsive and never dropped the ball on anything. They had the best food, best drinks, best vendors, and the sweetest staff. The morning of our wedding Lisa came over to the bridal suite and made us girls breakfast fresh while we got ready, brought us lunch, made sure that everything ran on time and was so amazing through the whole thing. Just an overall smooth and unstressful time which is what any bride would want. If your looking to get married in the Ozarks pick this place. You won’t be disappointed.

First off, the GPS brought us into the back of the property. Not really a big deal, until you get down a 15% grade with a boat and there is a coded gate there that no code is provided and says for maintenance only. Then received snarky comments about "not following the instructions and going to the other entrance". Next, they had people in the house that we had rented, so they had to locate the people to pack their belongings, wait for them to come back to the house, and then the maintenance crew cleaned it for the second time that day. At the same time, they were launching our boat and the guy launching it lost the correct draw bar for the trailers. They then used my bar but had to use my hammer to pound it in to the tractor's receiver because the tractor side was so deformed. Once that was all done, we could still not get into the house because it was not cleaned yet. THREE hours after check in time is when we finally got into the house. Since we brought our own boat, a boat slip was provided for us. Awesome right?! Until we came back from being out on the boat and multiple of our ropes were missing. I found them being used on other boats on the dock. I approached the office and brought this to their attention and was told that the slip that we are in is for their rental boats and they are not responsible for ropes or anything that is left on the dock going missing because there are members of the club that go down there and rental people. I proceeded to go pick up the ropes and bumpers because the boat was not there again and had more ropes that went missing. To add to all of this, the railing on the stairs leading up to the house is barely attached and my kids almost fell though it when using the stairs for the first time. I am sure their insurance company would love this! Next thing is that the A/C in the house even though set to 72 would never go below 78. Granted it was 90+ outside with full sun, we closed all the shades but it would still not go below the 78 and at that was only when it was partly cloudy. Throughout the time we were here and it was really sunny never got below 80. The family and kitchen spaces both were lacking as well as the washer and drier. For a house that sleeps 10 people, there are only 6 places to sit in the living room space and 8 places to dine which are not even in the same room. The kitchen had dirty utensils, few pans, no baking sheets or pans, no dry measuring cups, few measuring spoons and no mixing bowls. We had spilled something on the bathroom floor and went to wipe it up and the white rag that was provided to was black after we wiped up what we had spilled (this was the morning after we arrived so not long enough for us to have created the dirt). My wife got on the ground and cleaned the floor so it was not disgustingly dirty. The washing machine smelled terrible and only fits a few towels/washrags. There are only 2 towels per bathroom meaning everyday laundry needed to be done for clean towels or washcloths. We went to Walmart and cleared the shelves of towels to accommodate for those of living here. When going to get ice, the dock attendant refused to fill 2 bags while we waited and referred us to the cafe in which the waitress was busy but thankfully helped out. She did not know how much to charge for the ice and was unsure of how full to fill the bag. After getting direction, we finally left with ice. Finally, they had an excavator here. Not a big deal if it was just digging but they were jack hammering the stone that they were trying to get rid of for 3 days straight which the was 50-80 feet from the house. To top this all off they have ridiculous check out procedures as in you are to basically clean the house except for washing the sheets. WHY AM I PAYING FOR CLEANING THEN. I understand cleaning up a big mess but to be charged for cleaning fee and then have to basically clean the whole place makes no sense.

Our family rented a sailboat (Catalina 32). The staff was kind, courteous and helpful. And, though the sailboat needed a bit of TLC, it was still the most fun I've had in a lot of years. A huge thanks from our family for giving us a perfect way to wrap up our vacation! Being able to rent the boat for overnight excursions or for several days would make it even better!

We had our wedding and reception at the yacht club and were so happy we did. The houses on the property we stayed at made it incredibly easy for day of activities and Linda was a wonderful asset in coordinating everything.
