Arcadia Boat Launch

This boat ramp in Arcadia is not being maintained. It is mostly unusable if you have a larger boat. You could drag a kayak or canoe over the rocks about 20-30 yads and over a gate.

Great quiet place to launch a small boat. Wouldn't try a motor boat, rocky and shallow. Large area to park for fishing or leaving cars for floats.

Close to I81, you don't have to carry your kayak to far. Clean

Very popular take out on the James. Hill is a bit steep but still very nice to have so many spots to put in and take out. The James River is a great paddle. Thank you to all the outdoors people who leave no trace! Well done to all of you! You are appreciated by many. In the photo there are two herons on the center tree. Two trips so far on this section. Saw eagles both times. Trains move on the tracks here too! Cows, deer, birds, fish and more added to the waterfall shortly after the Buchanan put in for an awesome ride.

Busy on weekends, there was even a hot dog stand set up! Overflow parking just down the road for bigger rigs. But a good number of spots at the launch. Flat area to walk your boat out, you launch just under the bridge. Downriver is pretty calm with only a few mild rapids.
